Paris Travelodge

Our stay in Cornwall was a last minute decision therefore our accomodation was at the Travelodge in St Austell. What can I say about the hotel room? It does exactly what it says on the tin. St Austell is very village-like. In the evenings we struggled to find a decent place to eat with the few exceptions of a couple of pubs. The hotel itself was situated in some mini complex which had McDonald's Drive-thru, Pizza Hut and a B&Q. To avoid eating at McDonald's and Pizza Hut we decided to take advantage of the breakfast buffet offered to us by the hotel i.e. eat as much as we can in the morning and hopefully it would last us thoroughout the day. To our dismay it was an English Breakfast which meant that everything was fried. We was going to put on weight on this holiday...........or maybe not. After a week of fried breakfasts with 3 to 4 helpings at a time this is the closest thing we got to the Atkins diet.

West Country Combine Harvester

My brother-in-law took a well deserved break and decided to visit good ole blighty for 2 weeks. The missus & I jumped on the opportunity of taking time off work to show him around the sights. As London was experiencing the worst heatwave in centuries, we decided to go to cooler climbs of Cornwall. First up was the Eden Project. Situated in the middle of nowhere, the project hosts an impressive array of exotic plants and flowers housed under two magnificent biodomes. Surprisingly, with all the good weather we've been having the project was empty, we literally had the place to ourselves.
