Something in the water 2

This blog hasn't been updated for a long time. This is mainly due to some life changing events in my life. At the beginning of the year it was discovered that my missus is pregnant. It came as a bit of a shock but now we are both very excited about it. It's been very busy on the baby front as relatives and friends have been producing offspring. My child will definitely not be alone.

It's official, I'm old!

Recently I celebrated my birthday and reached outside the threshold of being "young".

I don't feel any different except when I participate in exercise. Now that the new season has started my role within Tooting Bec Rovers has diminished somewhat. I can only manage one half before wanting to lie down.

I've joined the 21st century and joined the phenomenon of Facebook. Quite honestly I find it really addictive. It's amazing the amount of people you can hook up with from the past and present. People from my days at St Boniface, Salesian College & University all seem to be there. It's very fascinating and frightening what my friends are doing now. Anyway, I have created a Tooting Bec Rovers group on Facebook if you are interested.

May Day May Day

Summer is here and all I can say is YIPPEEE! May has been very eventful. Firstly me and the missus took advantage of the Bank Holiday and spent a couple of days in Barcelona. Whilst the UK was covered in grey clouds, we was eating tapas and drinking sangria under light blue cloudless skies. Fantastic!! Barcelona will always be dear to my heart as it was my second visit to the city and a first for my wife. Whenever we go abroad I always blag my sister's camera and go a little bit crazy taking photos. With a huge memory card I seem to photograph anything that moves. I'm not surprised if my dear sister is a little bit pissed off.

We had people coming and going to ours. My dear grandmum came to visit after blagging a really cheap flight to the UK from Mauritius. It was really good to see her as she is at an age when travelling can be very tiring. Also from Mauritius my cousin Pam came to visit, as she had a business trip to Denmark. Finally I managed to meet my future brother in-law from Canada who came over for a bit of a holiday and spend some time with my sister. He arrived on FA cup final day which was inconsiderate of him (only joking). By the end of the month my sister and her man were back in Canada and legally married. Congrats!!

If that wasn't enough already, I decided to go to study after so many years. To further my career I've undertaken a course in management accounting. My first exam was at the end of May and certainly there was a lot of ring rust. In the end I managed to pass, phew!!!

Tooting Bec Rovers News:- The season is over. The bad news is, is that we finished bottom of the league. We was given one last chance by the league to play one last outstanding game in May. All we needed was a draw to propel us off the bottom but unfortunately we blew it. Roll on next season!

One last note, Congratulations to Chelsea FC!! It was a disappointing season but it was made all the better when we beat the Mancs at the new Wembley for the FA Cup.

Training Day

Haven't updated the blog for a while mainly because of work. The long grey winter is coming to an end. During that time I took some time off from Tooting Bec Rovers and did some football training in Mauritius! I doubt it did any good as I put on weight.

Rovers Win!!

After a terrible run of results, Tooting Bec Rovers registered their first win of the season. What a relief it was!! The poor victims were a team called Sporting Jubilee who were in fact one place below us in the table. During the week before the game we learnt that our strongest team won't be available. So basically when we played SJ we had our second string team out. Any fears we had were cancelled out early on when I scored my first goal of the season in the first minute. Before we knew it we were 3-0 up but playing absolute rubbish. As the game went our deficiencies in defence seem to show as we let in goals where we normally don't. However Pete & I kept some distance between the teams by adding a few more to our goal tally. In the end it was 6-4 to the Rovers. Next week we play Star, the team one place above us. The first time we played them, it was a game we should have won but didn't. Revenge is the air.

Many Thanks to Florasspread. You are the first to comment on my blog. To answer your question whether we are better than Tooting & Mitcham. The answer is I wish.

How the other half eat

To celebrate the trouble & strife's birthday, I arranged a surprise dinner to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant at Clarigdes' hotel. It was a special occasion as it was a landmark birthday for her indoors. That's right she's 21 (give or take a few extra years). Having seen Mr Ramsay bark his way to the top, it was very interesting to see whether the hype was worth it. After years of having my palette exposed to Tooting's finest eateries, it was a joy. I have to say the food exceeded all my expectations. The dishes all came in small portions but the food kept on coming and coming. In the end we were ready to burst. When we thought we were finish and ready to leave, the waiter gave us an additional special christmas treat of mince pies, pestachio ice cream and fine Belgian chocolates. Ouf! The buckle on the belt just couldn't take the strain. Overall it was a lovely night. The Missus enjoyed her birthday immensely. Happy Birthday M!
